Rationale for Services
Music therapy has the ability to enhance and support a patient and family-centered approach to care focusing on all aspects of healing: mind, body, and spirit. Throughout life, music positively and negatively affects our physical and emotional well-being. It also affects heart rate, blood pressure and the release of the body’s natural painkilling chemicals. Even when people are no longer conscious or speaking, we can console and comfort them with music. Research has shown that music is the first outside sensation that registers with a developing fetus and the last that registers with a dying patient. People respond positively to music which makes music the ideal tool to help reach the needs of patients.

What to Expect
All services are provided by credentialed music therapists, who adhere to a Code of Ethics and Standards of Clinical Practice. Music therapists assess the needs of clients, establish appropriate goals and objectives, plan and implement interventions, document outcomes, and continue ongoing evaluation.
